Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Technician - Level 1 or 2 to join our team at our Elkton, Maryland location.
The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Discover charming small towns, parks with miles of trails, specialty and antique shops, award winning restaurants, and inns. Position Summary:
Performs non-destructive tests (NDT) on aerospace components and assemblies. Inspects metallic and nonmetallic materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including radiography, ultrasound, and penetrant inspection methods. Requires certifications in non-destructive testing in accordance with regulations. Radiographic techniques include film, computed radiography, and computed tomography.
Responsibilities:
This position can be filled at either the NDT Technician (1) / NDT Technician (2) level, depending demonstrated experience, education, and competency.

This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
Salary Range: $43,700.00 - $72,900.00Salary Range 2: $51,900.00 - $86,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Position Summary:

Responsibilities:
- Operate high and low energy X-radiation equipment, operate automated film processor, computed radiography scanner, and computed tomography equipment and computers
- Operate ultrasonic flaw detector, working with pulse echo and angle beam inspections.
- Perform Type I and II Dye penetrant tests, methods A, B, and C
- Interpret, evaluate and make accept/reject decisions and document those decisions
- Obtain and maintain Level II certifications in radiography, ultrasound, and penetrant inspection methods which include formal classroom training, on-the-job training and written and practical exams for each NDT method and level. Must complete retesting at specified intervals to retain certifications
- Receive guidance, coaching, and training from a certified Level 2 or Level 3 NDT technician
This position can be filled at either the NDT Technician (1) / NDT Technician (2) level, depending demonstrated experience, education, and competency.
Basic Qualifications NDT Level 1:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience working as an industrial NDT technician.
- 2 plus years experience as a manufacturing technician or quality control technician
- Ability to pass the 20/25 Snellen or Jaeger No. 1 vision test for NAS 410 certification
- Candidate must have strong mathematical skills
- Perform physical requirements of this position including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must be proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in English
- Must be available to work overtime and weekends. 2nd shift work may be required on a rotating schedule
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a team
- U.S. Citizenship; must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications NDT Level 1:
- Experience in manufacturing and quality assurance of Aerospace products
- Experience with engineering drawings and specification interpretation
- 1 + years working toward certification as an industrial NDT technician with documented classroom training for at least 1 NDT method. Must be able to provide formal training and experience records
Basic Qualifications NDT Level 2:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Current or previous Level 2 ASNT or NAS 410 certification in radiographic inspection (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT) or penetrant testing (PT) with a minimum of 2 years of NDT Level 2 experience. Must be able to provide certification and experience records
- Candidate must have strong mathematical skills including basic algebra
- Advanced PC skills including proficiency with MS Office products
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in English
- Must have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control NDT method(s)
- Perform physical requirements of this position including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a team

- U.S. Citizenship; must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications NDT Level 2:
- Experience in manufacturing and NDT of Aerospace products
- Current certification per ASNT or NAS 410 NDT Level 2 inspector in at least two NDT methods
- Experience with non-film radiographic techniques
- Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, and other Quality / NDT auditing / accreditation systems
