Network Design Engineer

Tyto Athene is seeking a Network Design Engineer to support DoD infrastructure modernization activities at various locations throughout the Continental United States (CONUS). The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience architecting and designing large scale network infrastructure and must be familiar with industry standards, protocols, and best practices related to these areas. This is crucial for your success in this role. This is NOT an Implementation position. Minimal travel may be required.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and provide guidance to the implementation team.
* Align client requirements with technical solutions using approved DoD architecture standards and specifications documentation.
* Lead technical design development and create Preliminary and Final network design deliverables from site survey data that will be implemented after approval by the client.
* Work with site teams, manage timelines, and mitigate risks throughout the design lifecycle.
* Work with MBSE team to test and verify all approved designs meet technical requirements (i.e. network topology, configurations, security hardening, etc.) before being delivered to the Implementation teams.

Required:

* 10+ years of network/security architecture, design, implementation experience required, to include the integration of OSP, ISP and Facilities.
* A deep understanding of the various DoD NIPR/SIPR Maturity Levels as it relates to Installation Campus Area Network Design & Implementation requirements (i.e., SP-ETH, PN-ETH, VX-ETH, SD-ETH, HAIPE, CSfC, Zero Trust), and other Standards and Specifications as it relates to Wi-Fi, Voice and other Capability areas
* Experience performing Wired/Wireless Site Surveys using various physical and electronic tools.
* Strong understanding of WAN/LAN Wired/Wireless network routing and switching protocols required, to include but limited to Unified Communications, LTE/5G, Data Center and Audio/Visual.
* Strong understanding of the nuances when migrating from a traditional network to an orchestration-based network (STP to SD-Access).
* Experience with network documentation using MS Office Suite, to include MS Visio.
* Experience with edge computing, LTE/5G integration, and distributed systems deployment.
* Security expertise, including DoD Zero Trust model, End-to-End network encryption, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Identity-based Network Access Control (Policy enforcement, Posture/Profiling and AAA capabilities), Secure Analytics & Logging and User, Device and Application protection.
* Experience with cybersecurity hardening mechanisms on network infrastructures (STIGs, patching, etc.)
* Experience in network performance analytics, big data integration utilizing NMS/SIEM tools.
* Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (e.g., Cameo, GNS-3, Cisco CML) for network design, configuration testing and optimization.
* Excellent Communication Skills to collaborate and present solutions with cross-functional teams, leadership, and clients, ensuring that complex networking concepts align with strategic mission objectives.
* Experience working with DoD customers and knowledge of Federal and DoD policies and processes.
* Must meet DoD Approved 8570 certification requirements for IAT-III.

Desired:

* Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise with a concentration in one of the following:

* Advanced Routing and Services
* Designing Cisco Enterprise Networks
* Designing Cisco Enterprise Wireless Networks
* Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional - Enterprise Routing and Switching (JNCIP-ENT)
* TOGAF or DoDAF enterprise architecture certification

Clearance:

* Top Secret clearance required
